Modern data on the distribution of stellar colors and on the number of stars as a function of apparent magnitude in five directions in the Galaxy are analyzed. Observational studies by various authors are analyzed. All of the data are described well by a two-component model with an exponential disk and a de Vaucouleurs spheroid. The fat-disk model proposed by Gilmore and Reid does not fit the results of Kron for SA57 and of Koo and Kron for SA68.
