A central aspect in attempts to understand the physical nature of quasars is the determination of the distances to them. Most astronomers accept the redshift-implied distances. However, attention has been given to statistical and direct evidence which is not in agreement with this straightforward interpretation Sulentic (1983) has digitally analyzed the best available 4m and 5m photographs of the N4319/M205 configuration, with the conclusion that the observed connection cannot be explained using the isophotal overlap hypothesis. The present investigation is concerned with extensive observations of the N431/M205 configuration using the prime focus CCD direct camera on the 4m Kitt Peak National Observatory reflector. Attention is given to the original connection seen by Arp (1971), the extension of the connection into N4319, and the morphology of the galaxy N4319.
