On July 31, 2010 SUMI was launched to 286km above the White Sands Missile Range to observe active region 11092. SUMI is a spectro-polarimeter capable of measuring the spectrum for Mg II h & k at 280 nm and C IV at 155 nm. Simultaneous observations with Hinode and SDO provide total coverage of the region from the photosphere into the corona, a very unique and original data set. We will present the initial results from this first flight of the experiment and demonstrate the utility of further observations by SUMI.
