Advanced Satellite for Cosmology and Astrophysics (ASCA) is a
high-throughput X-ray astronomy observatory which is capable of
simultaneous imaging and spectroscopic observations over a wide energy
range 0.5-10 keV. The scientific capabilities of ASCA and some aspects
related to its operation and observations are briefly described.
