The use of the results of radar echoes from the stratosphere and the
mesosphere taken with the EISCAT UHF radar system are presented. The
operation of EISCAT as a supplementary instrument to rocket soundings
during the Middle Atmosphere Physics (MAP) Cold Arctic Mesopause and MAP
Winter in Northern Europe high latitude programs is outlined.
