Correlations are sought between recorded inferior and superior conjunctions of the sun and Venus and the level of solar activity. It was found, in examining the total occurrences of the two conjunctions since 1856, that superior conjunctions occur more frequently than do inferior ones. The conjunctions also occurred with a different regularity in summer than in winter. Sunspot activity coincided more with superior conjunctions than with inferior ones during the nine solar activity cycles recorded between 1856 and 1954. Furthermore, the spots appear more often in summer than in winter. No physical explanation for the apparent coincidence was determined.
