A discussion is presented concerning stellar structures with a constant local adiabatic index. An equation of state is employed in which the rest mass density leads to the derivation of relations between energy density and pressure and between internal energy and pressure, involving a constant that may be considered the local polytropic index. The local adiabatic index is found to be related to the adiabatic index through a simple relation. The maximum surface redshift value obtained is 0.614, and for bound structures a central redshift figure of less than about 8.24 is given. The model yields a maximum neutron star mass of 2.39 solar masses, and a maximum size of 13.7 km.
