The results of a spectroscopic study carried out on the forbidden O III lines at wavelengths 4959 and 5007 A of ten nebulae from the Catalogue of Galactic Planetary Nebulae of Perek and Kohoutek (1967) are presented. Individual objects are described, and the relevance of the data for models formulated by other authors is addressed. It is concluded that the forbidden O III expansion velocities derived for the ten nebulae indicate that nine of these nebulae closely fit the evolutionary trend of the expansion velocity given by Sabbadin et al. (1982), and that NGC 6857 is an H II region and not a genuine planetary nebula.
