A few issues concerning the origin of the X-Ray Background (XRB) are discussed. The contribution of hot gas (both diffuse and clumped) to the background intensity is found to be generally negligible. Since the Rosat deep surveys have already resolved a high fraction of the soft XRB, some properties (average spectrum, clustering, source counts) of the sources of the 'residual' intensity are studied. It is speculated that the role of low luminosity Seyfert galaxies might be relevant in the origin of the soft XRB.
