In view of recent claims that starburst galaxies may account for a substantial fraction of the Cosmic X-Ray Background (CXRB), the possible contribution of the x-ray luminous spiral galaxies to the background is discussed. These spiral galaxies were revealed through Rosat all sky survey detections of IRAS galaxies, and are thought likely to be starburst galaxies because of their high infrared luminosities and explicit optical classification. The latter objects, with spectral shapes dependent on the relative strengths of various, x-ray emitting stellar subpopulations, may however have too soft x-spectra to play a signifigant role in this respect.
