The optical light curve of V404 Cyg shows a considerable effect of ellipticity. The behavior of both light and radial-velocity curves is consistent with a binary system model, confirming the correctness of the mass function f(v)(M) = 6.26 solar masses. It is argued that it is a bright G-K star that is the 'donor' in the system which transfers the mass to the relativistic object. The parameters of the binary system determined from light curve analysis suggest that V404 Cyg is the best black hole candidate.
