All of our HETG/ACIS-S calibrations so far have been performed at the nominal SIM_Z off-sets of 0 and -3mm. Out of the 63 GO/GTO HETG/ACIS-S observations completed so far, 19 (30%) have used SIM_Z off-sets different than 0 or -3mm. At present, we have not measured the spatial variations in the ACIS-S QE at the energy resolution of the gratings for a range of SIM_Z positions. We propose to observe 3C273 with HETG/ACIS-S at SIM_Z=-5.6 and -8.1mm. A 25ksec observation will allow us to look at broad-band QE variations across the ACIS-S detector at these SIM_Z off-sets. The offset of -5.6 mm is the most commonly used negative off-set (toward the read out). 3C273 only varies by 10% on a 1 day timescale, but we still need to perform these observations back-to-back.
