We propose a 50 ksec observation of the galaxy cluster Abell 115 with the ACIS I detector. This very X-ray luminous cluster is a unique laboratory to study shock heated gas between two merging cluster components. Chandra's combined imaging and spectroscopic capabilities will make it possible to extract highly resolved maps of the Intracluster Medium (ICM) density, temperature, and chemical composition. Furthermore, it will be possible to study in detail the interaction of the ICM with the powerful radio galaxy 3C 28.0, the Brightest Cluster Galaxy. The ROSAT HRI image clearly shows extended structure which is correlated with the lobes of the radio source and which will be resolved by Chandra.
