Equivalent widths of the H-alpha, H-beta and 7774-A O I lines obtained from Michelson-Fourier spectra for 43 stars of types O6 to G2 are compared with narrow-band photometry corresponding to those spectral features. The results indicate that narrow-band photometry of stellar lines can be applied to fainter stars than can Michelson-Fourier spectroscopy, but at the expense of losing some astrophysical information, and that the internal photometric errors are low. It is concluded that narrow-band photometry is a natural choice for deriving physical parameters.
