A cluster analysis using parameters from wavelength coincidence statistics (WCS) of stars with lines of the second spectra of lanthanide rare earths is performed. Magnetic Ap stars with atypical spectral patterns are well separated in parameter space from the other clusters, as expected. It is shown that rare-earth patterns in magnetic Ap stars are more closely related to those of Am stars than to their magnetic congeners. The similarity of WCS parameters of normal and peculiar late-type stars to those of CP stars is noted, and it is suggested that these objects cluster closely because the abundance patterns are similar.
