Solutions of the Einstein-Yang-Mills system in six dimensions are
investigated which exhibit the compactification of two dimensions into
spheres with varying radii and which are Schwarzschild-like in the other
four dimensions. The stability of the spontaneous compactification
solutions is discussed too.
