The deep BV photometry by Alcaino and Liller (1980) has led to the selection of 17 stars from the upper turnoff region of NGC 6397 for photoelectric photometry study on the Stroemgren uvby and H-beta systems. It is noted that a well-defined relation exists between beta and b-y for nearby F-type stars of Population II. Attention is given to the calibration of delta-m(O) for Population II stars. Effective temperatures are derived and discussed, with emphasis on stars of low metal abundance, and the individual ages of the turnoff stars are obtained from the relations between the effective temperatures and Delta-M(bol) as well as M(bol). The present observational data are compared with those from the stellar model computations of VandenBerg (1983) and Hejlesen (1980). From these two independent sets of isochrones, the same 16-billion year age is derived for NGC 6397.
