Moderate-resolution spectra in the K band of two infrared objects (GL 490 and GL 2591) have been obtained. Hydrogen emission in the B-gamma line has been observed in GL 490 but not in GL 2591. In the case of GL 490, this observation indicates that the ultraviolet luminosity derived from the line emission is higher than expected from a ZAMS star of the same luminosity; however, the total ultraviolet luminosity is a small fraction of the total luminosity. A possible model for GL 2591 is presented which accounts for the presence of an infrared source and an H II region in close proximity with no detected hydrogen emission from the infrared source. This model assumes that GL 2591 is just beginning to dissipate its surrounding dust cloud.
