A table of persistent lines found in the spectrum of WRA 977 in the range 6600-4100 A is presented together with possible identifications. The spectrum closely resembles that of P Cygni, but contains many strong, diffuse interstellar features. The distance to WRA 977, derived from the strengths of the interstellar Na D lines, is found to be 2.44 + or - 0.44 kpc in reasonable agreement with previous distance estimates of Vidal (1973) and Wray (1966). The computed color excess is used to show that the column density of interstellar absorbers in the line of sight to this star is not sufficiently high to produce the observed 10 keV cut-off in the low energy spectrum of its X-ray counterpart, 3 U 1223-62.
