A new method based on the expansion of time as a function of angle in a Fourier series has been developed for calculating the orbits of binary stars. For binaries with open orbits two additional dummy measurements have to be introduced and adjusted. Numerical experiments have demonstrated that the proposed method determines with very high accuracy the 'best' orbit in the sense of probability theory from weighted observations.
