Radio emission from late-type stars is a manifestation of the presence and action of large-scale magnetic fields in the stellar atmosphere. Recent discoveries on radio emission from ultracool dwarfs appear to confirm the presence of such large-scale fields in these cool dense and neutral atmospheres, producing a panoply of behavior including pulsating emission, transient bursts of emission as well as steady levels of radio emission. We report on the properties of the radio emission from the ultracool dwarf binary LP 349-25. In contrast to the pulsating or transient behaviors characterizing radio emission from other ultracool dwarfs, in three epochs the radio emission appears to be constant. We can rule out both long- and short-term changes in the radio emission at two frequencies. The close nature of this binary (d=15 pc) coupled with its relatively large separation of 0.12" makes this an ideal candidate for high precision astrometry at radio wavelengths. We discuss the characteristics of the radio emission (frequency dependence, lack of variability, polarization) and comment on possible emission mechanisms.
