A stochastic background of gravitational waves (SBGW) is a superposition of unresolved sources, which can be produced cosmologically in the early universe, or by a population of astrophysical sources. LIGO and other gravitational wave detectors can be used to search for such a background by looking for cross-correlations in the random signals produced in pairs of detectors. I will describe the results of the latest searches for a SBGW using correlation measurements involving data from the LIGO detectors.
