To try to mineralogically characterize small (diameters<20 km)
asteroids, we have instituted a near-infrared (0.9 to 1.65 microns)
observational program called SMASSIR. We have focused on bodies with
visible spectra indicating pyroxene- or olivine-rich surface
assemblages.
