The character of the nuclear abundances synthesized under explosive carbon, oxygen and silicon burning conditions is demonstrated to be dependent upon the initial metal content of the star. Specifically, for metal-poor stars, the calculated abundances both of odd-Z nuclei and of the neutron rich isotopes of even-Z nuclei are found to be substantially reduced. This odd-even effect inZ is consistent with spectral studies of metal deficient stars.
