Using 2MASS and Spitzer observations, we have fit the spectral energy distributions of sources in fields observed by the Taurus Spitzer Legacy team to identify stars background to Taurus. The SEDs of these stars provide measures of the extinction along many lines of sight through the cloud, which are used to construct a high resolution extinction map of Taurus. We compare this map with maps of other nearby molecular clouds constructed in a similar way by the Cores-to-Disks Spitzer legacy team. In addition to 2MASS and Spitzer observations, the Taurus team has obtained optical observations of a significant fraction of the Taurus region using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the Canada-French-Hawaii Telescope. With these observations, we characterize the extinction law in Taurus from optical through mid-infrared wavelengths and compare it to the extinction law in other dense regions.
