We propose a 1 orbit XMM observation of NGC 3783 contemporaneous with the GT Astroe2 XRS observation. The combined data will provide unprecedented constraints on the kinematics of the composite (multi-zone) ionized-absorbers. XRS will provide strong new constraints on the most highly-ionized zones (e.g Fe xxv-xxvi). However XMM/RGS has superior resolution below 1 keV where strong features due to less-ionized zones occur. Furthermore EPIC data will provide crucial constraints on the underlying continuum. The joint observation will therefore provide a simple test between multi-phase & multi-cloud models, and also allow a cross-calibration check early in the XRS lifetime. Simultaneous observations are crucial to avoid ambiguities in this variable source.
