A powerful tool to learn about the connection of magnetic field and intra-cluster gas density and temperature is the relation between the X-ray luminosity and the Faraday rotation measure. As a part of a large program based on the comparison from numerical simulation to observations, we propose to perform a combined X-ray/radio analysis of the cluster Abell 514 to determine this relation with high accuracy and measure its temperature dependence. The determination of the dynamical state of this merger cluster with an extremely disturbed X-ray morphology by means of a temperature map is the second major goal of this observation. This is a re-submission of a successful proposal.
