V578 Mon (= HDE 259135) is a 2.4048 day eclipsing binary containing two early B-type stars, and is a member of the galactic cluster NGC 2244. UBV observations from 1968 through 1983 and BV observations from 1994/5 to 2005/6 lead to an improved ephemeris, as well as an apsidal motion period of around 30.4 years. The depth of primary minimum during the time interval from the 1994/5/6 observations to the 2005/6 observations increases by about 0.04 mags. in both V and B, while the depth of secondary minimum over the same time interval decreases by about 0.06 mags. in V and B. The UBV color indices at the eclipse minima indicate that the more luminous star of the system is somewhat hotter than the less luminous star.
