Scientific paper
From the inventory of nova discovered in M33 and from data on the observational material utilized, it is estimated that the annual frequency of novae in M33 is 1.4. The result is consistent with estimates based separately on the data acquired at the Mount Wilson and Asiago Observatories. The novae discovered in M33 do not congregate toward the center of the galaxy but are strewn over its disk. In this respect, the distribution differs significantly from that of the novae in M31, where only a small proportion of novae occur in the disk, with most of the novae populating the prominent central condensation.
