The paper presents photographs of certain portions of the lunar surface in the spectral range of 0.43 to 0.62 micron for cartographic purposes. A fragment of a digital photographic colorimetric map is also presented in the spectral region from 0.48 to 0.69 microns, and a comparative analysis is made between the digital and color maps and results of discrete spectrophotometry. Certain craters are found to reveal colorimetric peculiarities, and for certain values of albedo, the tendency for brighter features to be redder is superseded by the opposite behavior. Various uses of the results of global colorimetry in lunar geology are considered, and it is found that the absence or presence of bright craters on the maria in the color scanning photographs may serve as an indicator of the extent of which highland material has been uncovered as a result of drifting on the surface.
