A reexamination of the first-order perturbation theory of Chandrasekar (1933) with a view of finding a sequence of rotating polytropes of fixed mass shows that the value of n at which dynamic instability begins decreases, due to rotation. A simple expression is obtained for the pulsation mode frequency of a rotating star, and the function psi0(xi) is expressed in terms of the Emden function theta(xi)
