A method incorporating newly formulated invariance relations is proposed for the determination of the radiation field in isotropically scattering, multiple layer atmospheres illuminated by parallel rays. It is shown that the invariance relations are also applicable when the multilayer atmosphere is bounded below by a reflecting surface whose reflection coefficient value is of any magnitude. Calculation results for model problems are presented.
