The results of new calculations of stellar collapse in type-II supernovae which use an improved equation of state are presented. The resultant explosions have energy slightly too low to explain most observed supernovae. The outcomes of core collapse in a 10 solar mass and a 15 solar mass star are described and evaluated for their ability to produce nucleosynthesis. Core evolution diagrams for the collapses are presented along with depictions of the instantaneous structures of a 10 solar mass star when energy deposition in the region between 300 and 1000 km from the center is at maximum and when it has become negligible.
