Tropospheric modelling in Global Positioning System (GPS) and Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) analysis is a significant source of error in the estimation of station positions. Here we compare the estimates of tropospheric delay from VLBI and GPS analysis. The use of GPS zenith delays as an apriori calibration in VLBI analysis to see if VLBI geodetic repeatabilities can be improved is currently being explored. The results of the analysis may be used to improve tropospheric delay modelling in order to improve station position and Earth orientation estimates. Furthermore, it may be possible to obtain additional information about atmospheric phenomena from GPS measurements not obtainable from VLBI observations.
