We present observations and preliminary conclusions on HEBs (High-Excitation Blobs) in the Magellanic clouds (MCs). HEBs are compact HII regions that constitute a rare class of ionized nebulae in the MCs. They are considered to be the final stage of ultra compact (UC) HII regions. Their main characteristics are: high excitation, small size (≈2 pc), high density, and large extinction compared to typical MCs HII regions. These objects are tightly linked to the early stages of massive star formation, when the stars disrupt their natal molecular clouds. Such a study yields important informations for a better understanding of massive stars formation.
