Rotation, magnetic field, viscosity and finite electrical conductivity effects are considered for the case of gravitational instability through a porous medium, along with the effect of suspended particles on the instability. It is found that Jean's criterion remains unchanged in the presence of porosity, viscosity, finite conductivity, rotation, magnetic field and suspended particles in the medium. These findings are of interest in investigations of hydrodynamic and hydromagnetic astrophysical systems.
