The critical mass of He stars is determined, using models constructed with opacity coefficients computed from the Astrophysical Opacity Library. It is found to be 16 solar masses for models with 2 percent of heavy elements and 11.5 solar masses for pure He models, while the value obtained for pure He models with electron scattering as the only opacity source still lies near 9.4 solar masses.
