The consequences of the hypothesis that quasars are not randomly distributed in space but instead are located in superclusters are explored. The sky and redshift distributions of quasars will not follow simple Poisson statistics: the quasar sky will be slightly clustered. Therefore, the probability of finding a chance association of a low redshift galaxy and a group of high redshift quasars - redshifts indicating cosmological distances - is considerably higher than expected under the assumption of a random quasar distribution. It is shown in the framework of the hypothesis of quasar-generating superclusters, that the statistics of quasars with very similar redshift, e.g. pairs and triples, can provide information on quasar production and on superclusters at large redshifts.
