Analysis of the distribution of asteroids with respect to major semiaxis
in the vicinity of the 1:3 Kirkwood gap shows that the gap width
increases with orbital eccentricity and agrees with the width of the
resonance zone established by model calculations. The asteroids Alinda
and Quetzalcoatl will stay inside the gap for about 10 yr.
