The Narrow Line Seyfert 1 Galaxies (NLSy1s) are characterized by optical, ultraviolet, and X-ray properties that differ from those observed in normal Seyfert galaxies. The proposed models attribute their peculiarity to an orientation effect (pole-on model) or to an intrinsic property (low mass black hole). In both cases their infrared emission will be the same as observed in normal Seyfert 1, if it is thermal radiation from an optically thick disk. Some NLSy1 galaxies are also characterized by a strong infrared continuum, probably due to a bright starforming region. We obtained four broad infrared spectra of NLSy1 galaxies with the imaging photo-polarimeter (ISOPHOT) on-board of the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO). A non-standard procedure of data reduction has been applied and it is presented. The spectral energy distributions are modeled to derive the temperature distributions and compared with those of normal Seyfert 1 galaxies. The ratios between the infrared and the optical and soft X-ray luminosities are also derived, and compared with those of Seyfert 1 galaxies. The obtained infrared spectra of NLSy1s and the ratio LSX/LIR are consistent with those of normal Seyfert 1 galaxies, but the ratios between the infrared and optical luminosities are higher than in normal Seyfert galaxies. On the basis of these results we conclude that the presence of bright starforming regions is not a general property of NLSy1 galaxies, and that the infrared emission in NLSy1s is due to re-radiation of their soft X-ray component.
