A petrographic and chemical study of compact Type A CAI's from the
Efremovka CV3 chondrite strongly suggests that the opaque assemblages
(OA's) that they contain were molten at temperatures below the CAI
silicate solidus, and that the V-rich magnetite presently observed in
association with OA's formed by in situ oxidation of their FeNi.
