The statistical properties (activity cycles, time between bursts, burst durations, and log N-log S relations) and energy spectra of the three known soft gamma repeaters are reviewed. The characteristics of their possible counterparts are examined, from the radio to the X-ray ranges. In addition to repetition, the three SGRs share features such as soft energy spectra, and possible infrared and X-ray counterparts. Their activity cycles, burst durations, log N-log S, quiescent and bursting X-ray luminosities, and radio properties, however, are considerably different. It appears to be difficult to construct a single model to explain all three.
