Laboratory spectra for the nickel ions Ni IX through Ni XII in the range 138-166 A are obtained for the analysis of solar vacuum ultraviolet spectra. Spectral lines and their intensities determined by means of a vacuum spectrograph in hot and cold spark regimes are presented with an accuracy of 0.001 A. The wavelengths obtained are compared with solar spectra, allowing the conclusive identification of the solar lines at 145.734 and 146.083 A with Ni X, and the tentative identification of that at 152.703 A with Ni XII.
