It is noted that the plasma-vacuum boundary is unlikely to be an exact cylinder centered on the axis of rotation. Given that the plasma-vacuum boundary has protrusions that approach the velocity-of-light cylinder, the weighting function (kappa) has the effect of greatly sharpening the protrusions to produce pulses in the observed radiation. The mechanism of radiation is found to be remarkably consistent with the geometrical beaming mechanism based on the observations proposed by Smith (1970). The difficulties indicated by Smith in accounting for the spatial coherence that must be occurring, for the broadband nature of the radiation and for the limited width of the integrated pulse profile, are all resolved. In addition, the reason why a source magnetic field structure located at x approximately equal to 0.9 is apparently reflected in the observed radiation is also explained.
