The dynamical consequences of the accretion of matter onto the gaseous disks of spiral galaxies have been studied. On the hypothesis of zero angular momentum for the matter falling onto the disk, we have estimated the asymmetries introduced in the gas distribution and its velocity. An accretion rate of 1 Msun/year is sufficient to account for the order of magnitude of the velocity asymmetries observed between the Northern and Southern rotation curves of the Galaxy as well as major asymmetries observed in the gas distributions of certain spiral galaxies. Moreover it is shown that the radial flux of gas cannot be ignored in models of galactic chemical evolution with accretion of matter. There is incompatibility between 1-zone chemical evolution models and the hypothesis of inf all. A chemical evolution model which takes into account the radial motion driven by a zero angular momentum inf all onto the disk can reproduce very satisfactorily the main observed radial features of our Galaxy.
