We investigate a short-term spectrovariability detected in the Be star 28 Cyg, analyzing 110 spectra distributed over 7 nights. A comparison of our results to previous ones gives a complex picture of the variability pattern observed in this star. The photospheric He I 6678 A line shows periodic changes both in its equivalent width and in its profile. The presence of a bimodal nonradial pulsation seems to be the most probable explanation of this activity, even if the possibility of an ad hoc spot distribution carried around by the stellar rotation cannot be ruled out. Periodic variations affect also equivalent width and symmetry of the H-alpha emission line. The source of this activity seems to be located in a region close to the star. The possibility that the observed behavior may be produced by waves propagating in the circumstellar matter or by corotating jets is discussed.
