The intensity distribution functions at maximum of 87 solar proton events with proton energies greater than 10 MeV and of 323 solar microwave radio bursts are studied. The results show that the number of accelerated protons is roughly equal to the number of accelerated electrons raised to some power in the range from 2 to 2.5. It is concluded that proton acceleration to energies up to 10 MeV occurs only in some flares accompanied by radio bursts at frequencies of 2695 and 8800 MHz.
