The characteristics of the thermal and dynamical conditions of the rarefied atmospheres known to exist on Io and Ganymede are estimated when the thermal inertia times of the atmosphere are much less than the intrinsic rotation periods. The temperature of the atmosphere should follow the temperature of the underlying surface, remaining essentially 20% lower. An estimate of the wind velocity is obtained by means of a scaling analysis of the equations of hydrodynamics, which gives values of the order of 150 m/sec for these satellites. The characteristics of the turbulent boundary layer in the atmosphere of Ganymede are estimated (one can expect in the highly rarefied atmosphere of Io the presence of only a laminar boundary layer), as well as the efficiency of its atmosphere in the conversion of the solar energy supplied into the kinetic energy of motions. It turns out to be about 10 to the -6th, which is lower by several orders of magnitude than for the earth and Mars.
