HCO(+) has been detected toward an extragalactic source, M82, and detections of HCN toward M82 and NGC 253 are confirmed. These lines are similar in profile to the corresponding (C-12)O emission. The ratio of integrated line intensities, HCN/HCO(+), is of the order of unity in M82, similar to galactic giant molecular clouds. Null results for M81 and M31 are tabulated.
