Technique available for determining the location (direction) and polarization of a radio source using low-directivity antennas are reviewed. Radio observations are performed from space vehicles either to observe at frequencies too low to penetrate the terrestrial ionosphere, or to observe at great distances from the earth so as to be closer to the source or to observe it from a different direction. The discussion is limited to short electric antennas approximated by Hertzian dipoles. The results are used to review observation to date of solar radio bursts and terrestrial kilometric radiations.
